English Language Committee
Mentorship Program
The English Language Committee program was piloted at a language school in Talas, Kyrgyzstan. The committee was a demographically representative group of 8-10 students. Students created their own projects and clubs, and English teachers provide guidance and training for such activities. This particular committeee wrote a grant through the US deparrtment of state for 2.500USD to fund a English Language Room for students to study English after school.
Leading Healthy Lives (LHL)
LHL was a six-day summer camp in Kara-Buura rayon, Kyrgyzstan, for students in early high school. Its programming addressed various facets of healthy lifestyles including nutrition, physical activity, self-esteem, puberty and reproductive health, and mental health and healthy coping mechanisms. The camp also developed participants’ gender awareness and critical thinking skills through discussion of gender stereotypes and gender equality.
